Mar 8

Okay so for two weeks I've not worked on the weekends.  UGH...it's so difficult to stick to that one!  But it's giving me more time with my family!  So time with family, check.  Went to the gym this morning after breakfast and will be going again this afternoon before supper.  I'll be doing that at least 3 times a week...so time for me check.

I wanted to paint this weekend but decided to wait until the end of March....I've got too much I want to do on the weekends these next couple of weeks.  Hopefully I'll get to write some time this evening.  I haven't written in a very long time - almost 2 months.  I'm planning on taking a week off after WIM this year to just write.  See if I can't pound out a few books so I can get them all submitted before the end of summer!

Been walking the dogs alot more.  It's a five minute walk down to the part and back and they really enjoy it. Usually twice a day.  In the other direction, It's a 15 minute walk down to the end of the sidewalk and back.  My normal walking speed is 3 to 3.5 MPH.  Sometimes at night, Marshall Dillion and i will jog down to the park and back....I'm horrible at running and jogging because I've not done it since I was 13.

I met with a trainer at the gym today...my gym is Anytime Fitness.  She gave me some good exercises for abs work and upper body strength which are two of the things I wanted to work on. For the record....I feel silly rolling around on a ball.  I'm so not used to trusting some toy holding up my butt.  LOL

There are two ab machines at the gym that I will be working on...to strengthen the muscles in my stomach and abdomen.  And then I'll be walking at least 30mins every day (not counting the dog walking.)  My goal is 30 mins to an hour every day for exercise.   I've already done one hour today but have a friend who wants to meet with me this afternoon, so it'll be good to get an extra 30mins in.

So I know you are wondering why I'm not so sore i can't move....I do get sore...every day...but when it gets to where I get stiff, I get on my treadmill for five minutes or take a dog for a walk to work that stifness out of my muscles.  It's working pretty good for me.

I'm sleeping better now.  YAY.  I went to sleep last night at 1:00 a.m. and got up at 9 this morning. It's been a long time since i got a full night's sleep!  So even though the pounds aren't coming off as quickly as I want, I am really feeling great!

So I eat three meals a day making sure that my calorie burn is at least 200 over my calorie intake.  The meal before I exercise I make sure I get good protein for energy.  I bought some frosted mini wheats and Kellog's fruit and yogurt cereal for mornings.  2% milk.  Lunch, I usually eat some kind of sandwich - usually onion and mustard or tomato and light miracle whip.  Always on wheat bread.  And then supper, I balance meat and vegis for a normal supper and just watch my portions.  In addition I allow myself snacks - Special K bars, Yoplait fat free yogurt (they have a Boston Cream Pie one that I would fight my own mother for), or wheat thins.  Wheat Thins - a serving is 15 thins and I really like the dried tomato and basil and the Parmesan and basil ones.  These usually give me enough salt fix too that I don't start craving meat and cheese like I used to.  I also drink 6-12 glasses of water a day.

I bought a water at the gym on Friday....a dollar and twenty five cents...WTF?  For water?  Screw that.  AND they only come in plastic containers.  My husband and I are really trying to cut down on our plastic use and look for bottles or cans instead.  So I have this plastic bottle from Friday that I'm just refilling and putting in the fridge.  If you drink cold water, your body burns more calories by working to warm it when you drink it.  I have about three other bottles that I keep water in the fridge that i go through.  They usually hold 2 cups of water per container...so it's easy for me to keep up with how much I drink.

So talking with the trainer today....she said that I had 23% body fat....and that was average for women my age.  To be in good health rather than average, I should be at 8-12% body fat.  I thought that losing 25 pounds by June was a realistic goal but apparently it's not.   LOL.  So I told her I would be happy between 15 and 25 lbs.  LOL  I'm still shooting for 25 though.

Aside from my diet, I'm working on a few covers that I should have ready by the end of the week and will upload for you guys to see in my designs section.  I'm hoping by fall to have my store up and running so I can get some page designs and pre-designed covers ready for you guys.  :D  The store will be called Trader Grey and my perfume will be available as well as my designs.  I'm hoping to have some more products by the end of the year available as well - including some self published books.  I'm interested in all types of publishing and decided I would self publish this year to support that type of publishing as well as electronic and print through publishers.

That's all I have for today.  I hope you all have a wonderful week!

Day 3 of March

Almost two hours of light dance aerobics today.  Trying to work out the soreness of my workout yesterday.  I'ive not gained or lost anything since yesterday.  Last night I cooked my first REAL healthy meal and it was very yummy.  So I've lost 3 pounds.  I need to lose 2 more this week to make this program work with me...otherwise on Friday, I'm going to join the local gym.  I would join the YMCA - I really wanted to because they have a pool -  which is about a 45 minute walk from my house but they want me to give them my credit card/bank account number and that's just not going to happen.

I ordered my contacts today and should have them by Friday...my new glasses are very cute though.

This weekend, I'm going to paint.  I need to finish the green and peach in my kitchen and then go and get the tan color to finish up the kitchen and start the livingroom with.  I bought a chair for the livingroom...a wingback recliner for me.  I have arthritis in my right knee and it helps sometimes to be able to prop it up without running my husband out of his recliner.  lol.  The exercise I've been doing is helping ALOT with the pain in the knee.

All the water I've been drinking is doing wonders for skin...I'm digging that and my hair looks alot better these days too.

Am I writing?  No, but i plan on doing some tonight...Deanna is doing a writing workshop at the Mainstreet Forums and I need to play catch up.  My goal is to finish the second and third books for Breathless Press (My Passion of the Wolf books)  and to finish up the last book in the Heart of the Wolf trilogy at Total E-Bound.

I'm so happy with how popular After Dark is becoming...it's our social site over at Cobblestone Press.  I'm happy that the authors and the readers are loving it.  I've even submitted a poem and a bit of prose to the free reads section.

I'm hoping for another pound lost by tomorrow....keep your fingers crossed!

On my way to a healthier me

Okay so last month I started working out...it helped me to learn what foods I'm eating that are not good for me and which ones I need to eat more of, helped me to get used to workouts and a new way of eating.  My weight went up and down as I learned.  This month...my goal is to lose some serious weight.  I'm at 172lbs now...so I've lost three pounds - YAY!  My goal is to lose weight and tone.  I checked out what my weight should be...and 155lbs is still considered overweight for my body type and weight.  so I knocked my goal down to 150 instead - so that I'll be in the weight bracket I'm supposed to be in.

So what am I doing?

Well, I've found that my calorie intake is horrible.  I'm supposed to be taking in about 1220 calories a day.  My normal before I started this was around 850-900 - THIS IS BAD BAD BAD.  LOL  I found out that if you don't take in enough calories your body goes into starvation mode and slows down your metabolism.  So I have to eat more (blows my mind) but it's all about what I eat.  So I'm now watching calories, protein that I need for my workouts, Cholesterol, Carbs, Fat, and Sodium.  Those are my main concerns.  I've found that I normally go way over what I should for sodium intake and way under what I'm supposed to for protein unless I eat steak for supper.  I didn't realize that my way of eating was so off for my body...and no telling how long I've been off like this.

I have a great metabolism but I sit most of the day and night at this computer with work and writing.  I started watching The Biggest Loser and it was a real kick in the face for me.  These people have hundreds of pounds to lose, all with stories that really touch your heart.  I have no story - not like these people.  My only excuse for letting myself go is that I've just been too lazy to get off my butt and do the workout that my body needs.  These people on this show have to lose HUNDREDS of pounds...I only have to lose 25.  I've no excuse for not reaching my goal by June...none whatsoever.

My exercise right now...and it grows as I discover new exercises to add to my daily workout...is:

Lunges, abdominal crunches, standing twists, sitting leg work out (that hurts like hell), sit ups, and this hellish wall squat exercise I saw on TBL.  It's horrendous and kicks my butt LOL.  All of those exercises are to work on my butt, waist, and stomach...serious problem areas for me.  I'm also using my treadmill for warm up slow walking, 3.5 mph walking uphill, and jogging.  My jog pace is 4.5-5 mph.  It's hard because I didn't do much running before this...I really like it and have worked up to being able to run 1 lap.  So, my goal is some serious fat burn by sweating my tush off this month and really keeping inspired to do this!

I was doing 3 workouts a week last month.  This month I'm doing 5 a week....I am more likely to continue if I do it everyday.

The hardest part though?  Drinking 8 glasses of water a day.  Ugh!

But I'm sticking to it.  I'm not getting down on myself if I don't lose anything each day and am pushing myself harder when I do lose a pound.  My goal this month is to lose 5-10lbs.  I feel like if I can get under 170 this month that it'll really help me with my drive for next  month.
